Alright, so reading some comments on the whole time issue in LOST, a great number of people talk about "time loop", "repeating the circle", "stuck in a loop", etc. However, when has there ever been evidence of anything of that nature happening in Lost, and what would the explanation for it be?
One comment stated that the time loop meant that the characters were doomed to travel back to 1977, then later crash on flight 815, then travel back to 1977 again, etc. Except that is stupid. Because, as Miles and Dan both said, this is their present. The characters who crashed on 815 are, in 1977, babies, not born, or otherwise children. A time loop would be if the characters in 1977 were continually sent back to 1974 (or whatever) no matter what they did, repeatedly.
So, to move along, there is NO time loop in Lost, at least not one that has been seen at this point. Thus every theory or comment that insists that history must change because the characters have to "break the time loop" is pretty pointless. Might there be time travel involved in the Incident? Yes, but all indications are that it would send the characters back to the present. Even if it didn't, time would not continuously loop, since the characters still age when they are in the past, it being their "present".
Basically, this theory just states that time in Lost is essentially linear, even if it is not presented as such to us. The characters are not "looping" through time, because it has been shown that memories and experiences are experienced in a linear fashion by the characters even if they are time travelling.
