Age from the year 3,000.
First off I'd like too assess the actual situation of time with which this season has perplexed many. Seasons 1,2,3, and 4 were all located on the same time line which had Oceanic flight 815 crash landing on the island in September of 2003. In Season 5 an entirely new time-line was created when the island began "skipping" through time. When Ben turned the FDW he dislodged the island from it's Season 1,2,3,and 4 timeline and set it in the Season 5 timeline. Sawyer, Locke, and company "skipped around on this timeline until Locke turned the wheel and permanently placed them in 1977. The easiest way to illustrate my 2 time-lines is too draw a line on a piece of paper, which represents Season 1,2,3, and 4's timeline, then draw another line which begins at the origin of the initial line but is directed in another direction, this line represents the Season 5 time-line. When Jack, Kate, Hurley, and Sayid joined LaFleur a! nd company they were permanently designated to that new time-line created in Season 5 and they will live on the time-line until they die on island.
For the other 316'ers Sun, Ben, Lapidus, "Locke" they are still confined to the Season 1,2,3, and 4 timeline and they will be witness to the oncoming "war" for some unknown reason they weren't needed on the Season 5 timeline. Possibly because Ben HAD to kill Jacob or other reasons which we are still ignorant of due to Darlton.
Back to the Season 5 timeline. It becomes obvious in this episode that Faraday was right and you can indeed change the future. I say this because when Juliet detonated Jughead's core or whatever it effectively released the gargantuan amount of electromagnetic energy that was stored in the pocket that Radzinsky had recently drilled into. I can satisfactorily make that assumption because the "Incident" on the Season 5 time-line appeared to look like the exact accident that happened at the conclusion of Season 2 where Desmond turned the fail-safe key in the Swan simultaneously releasing the built up electromagnetic energy and destroying the station. The White light that appeared in the sky when Desmond released the energy could possibly be the same white light that appeared in the Season 5 finale signifying that the losties in fact changed history by releasing the electromagnetic energy in the pocket of where the Swan would never be built.
You may be confused let me make it simpler. By the losties (Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Juliet) successfully detonating Jughead, the electromagnetic energy that filled the pocket where the Swan was to be built was released. The release of this energy in 1977 would make the construction of the Swan unneccessary since (A. there was no electromagnetic energy to study, and B. they wouldn't need to contain the energy by hitting the button every 108 minutes.) And Since the button wouldn't need pushing Desmond would never not hit the button, that caused the excess buildup of electromagnetic energy under the swan, whose magnetic attraction would not have attracted Oceanic flight 815, and therefore the flight wouldn't crash but it would successfully land at LAX. WHEW!
Since the losties released the energy in 1977 on the Season 5 time-line; the real-life counterparts of the 815'ers, their younger selves in '77, would grow up and get on Oceanic 815 in Sydney, Australia in September of 2003 and they would also land in LAX less than 24 hours later in September 2003. All in all, the losties successfully changed what happened in 1977 of Season 1,2,3, and 4 time-line and therefore the Season 5 time-lines actual 815'ers will never visit the island. The losties displaced in Season 5's timeline will die on the island at a safe distance from their Season 5 time-line counterparts.
Also I have some input on the Jacob complex whatever you want to call it. At the beginning of "The Incident" we see Jacob's counter part. He obviously has control over the smoke monster (he used it to convince Ben to follow the faux Locke's orders via the image of Alex), he also has inhibited the body of Locke, who is DEAD (remember DEAD IS DEAD) and also of Christian previously in the series ( once again because we now realize dead is dead, and because we though Locke's ressurection was the same case as Christian's; now that we no Locke is dead we know Christian must also be dead), and is a faction in the still impending "War" (which is not between Jacob and he, because Jacob was killed in cold steel by Benjamin Linus).
I'm still uncertain what Season 6 will bring, hopefully an ending fit for the awe-inspiring series that Lost has become, but whatever it is you can be almost one-hundred percent assured that the people in the Season 5 timeline have successfully altered the designated course of previous histories (Season 1,2,3, and 4's time-line's events). Basically Jack did what he said and he changed history.
Please leave me creative criticism. Let me know what you think!
