Here’s what we’ll discover in Season 6. Detonating the bomb saved the life of everyone on the island. But that didn’t prevent the incident because the incident is the detonation of the bomb which I’m sure many of you have figured out already. But the twist is that the incident was a good thing. The consequence for saving everyone on the island is that the Swan will have to be built to control the resulting leakage which is a small price to pay for all the good it did.
Also, I’m sure that I’m not the only one to notice this. But for those who didn’t catch it, the sound of the heavy machinery being sucked into the hole was identical to the sound that Smokey makes when it crashes through the jungle. It’s tempting to say that the incident created Smokey but that doesn’t explain why Dharma already had the sonic fence built. But we did learn that it’s likely Smokey and Jacob represents the two sides at war: one light and one dark. And Smokey has been trying to figure out how to kill Jacob for a long time.
