In tonight's episode, "Follow The Leader", we learn that John wants to kill Jacob. But why would he want to kill Jacob? Hasn't Jacob been helping John this entire time? Or so we're led to believe...
My theory goes like this: there are two opposing forces on the island. One is Jacob/Christian/Richard/Ben and the other is Smokey which represents the island's will.
This entire time, we've thought that Jacob is trying to help John, but what if he's trying to get rid of John? Evidence that supports this includes when Ben shoots John into the Dharma pit (acting for Jacob), as well as Christian's telling John (NOT BEN) to turn the donkey wheel, so that he could get him off the island. Jacob figured that Locke would not be able to get back, and so this would be the best way to rid of him. When Claire comes to Kate in her dreams, she clearly does not want Aaron brought back to the island because she knows that Jacob is trouble.
Smokey, on the other hand, has been helping John the entire. From all the visions John has had, to his being "in-tune" with the island--this is all work from Smokey. When Walt appeared to John in the Dharma pit, he was trying to help John. When Smokey-Alex told Ben not to kill John, Smokey WANTS John to kill Jacob. Is the reason why Jacob cannot easily be found because he is avoiding Smokey? Is that why his cabin literally "moves"?
We can reasonably deduce that this entire time, it's been all about Smokey VS Jacob. Is there some kind of good vs evil theme going on here? I may be on to something here! ;)
