The most interesting incident in the season finale was the conversation at the very start who Esau rather has a distaste for humans coming to the island, who come and pollute/corrupt the island, whereas Jacob keeps bringing people to this island to prove that they are good, Esau can not kill Jacob. He has probably lived lifetimes of aliens (humans) coming to this island and polluting it and corrupting it and wants to kill Jacob in order to stop this. Why is this a 'bad' thing?
When it comes to this battle of good and evil against Esau and Jacob it's easy to determine that white means good and black means bad, but they are colours, why can't black mean good and white mean evil?
Jacob sacrifices countless people in order to 'prove' and win this game. Think about the countless people dying, the countless crap on the island resulted by Jacob bring people to the island. Esau from the conversation he gives is not interested in this game and would prefer people not to come this island. Come on how would you feel if countless visitors came to your house, pissed on your bed, played loud 70's music, fire guns and fight for thousands of years? You'd be well pissed off with your housemate for inviting them round.
Also check out who the smoke monster kills straight away... The pilot. The wrong pilot. Lapidus the ace of clubs. So maybe there are different entities to the smoke monster. Maybe this is the clue the producers have somewhat mentioned with a clue in the pilot. I mean Jacob is all for redemption and good guy stuff so when Eko does not repent, maybe Jacob kills him. Maybe this is the clue the producers have somewhat mentioned with a clue in the pilot. Again I mention the start when Christian is wearing white shoes with his encounter with Jack suggesting that this maybe Jacob acting as Christian, but later we see him with dark shoes when talking to Locke. Two different forms but through the same way. Jacob could also be the smoke monster also.
When Anti-Locke and Ben have a conversation before they reach Jacob, Ben tells him that Alex told him to 'do everything John Locke does', there is no mistake about the sincere suprise on Anti-Locke's face when Ben tells him this. So maybe as I said with different entitites, Jacob used Alex to push Ben into killing him. I mean lets carry on with this, why would the smoke monster want to kill John Locke in some of the opening episodes only later to see the smoke monster not retaliating...
Unfortunately for Jacob, Widmore is somewhat unintentionally on the side of Esau. Who placed 4 ace cards on the island.
The ace of hearts: Daniel (Romance and love, his relationship with Charlotte and his mother)
The ace of clubs: Lapidus (War, the upcoming war and candidate)
The ace of diamonds: Charlotte ('Wealth' of knowledge/money, knowledge of Dharma and the island and money resource)
And the Ace of Spades: Miles which is very often accociated with yep, you got it, death. Considering there is a dead John Locke body around, a dead Jacob, another John Locke and impending collision course with everyone else, I think we can assume Miles may play a pivitol point in deciding the fate of which way the tide turns, I mean Bram and co who are obviously on the side of Miles really didn't want him to come.. With Lapidus role, I'm pretty damn sure that this candidate is the guy whos going to die and let Jacob take over him top play out the war. I bet it's Frank, that's why Esau Smoke Monster tried to have him killed in the opening scene. Or whether Frank could be the wrong candidate and that Jacob wanted him dead in the opening scene.
So yea, I know this is loads of theories mixed into one, but the point of the matter is, is that Jacob could be a red herring. Just because he wears white, touches a few people does not mean he has good intentions. The island is trouble for humans, although people survive miracously, there are way more sacrafices which Jacob is accounted for. He keeps bring people here, even though Esau keeps saying not to. What is Jacob trying to achieve, I would most likely imagine a 'new world'. But that is massive speculation. Esau most likely wants to kill Jacob to stop people being bought here on his turf - does that sound evil? Nah.
Oh yea loving the egyptian sacrafice in the opening scenes. Want any fish? No I just ate. Blatantly egyptians on the island regularly sacraficing people to the smoke monster or something like that, he probably just took over that guys body and spoke to Jacob for a bit.
Also check out the start when Jacob catches the fish, a 'Red Snapper' ... a 'Red Herring'...
Jacob is the red herring, he is the bad guy using this island as a game for his own purpose, with the ultimate goal and end game for Jacob about as clear cut as Bernards beard.
