Let me first say hats off to D&C for their masterful manipulation of an entire viewing audience. Now, half of you will think, I was right. But both are wrong.
Each season we are left with two opposing theories that battle it out.
We have been given blatant clues and just enough to make the other half believe the opposite.
The show is not just about the conflict of the characters on the screen but about the conflict they have created in all of us. Starting with the first season, every season we are given a conflict to fight about with just enough information to make us question ourselves about the side we have chosen to be on.
First season we are introduced to the art of the game. Now, if you have seen the movie "The Game" then maybe you will know where I am going with my idea. Locke and Walt set the stage for the whole show. We are told there are two sides to a backgammon piece or any other game with two players. But the piece is still just a piece, like us. We have two sides - good and bad
Over the course of this whole show I realized that we are all Locke to some extent. We are being lead to believe that our destiny (choice of which side to be on) is the right path but what if it is not about the side we chose but about the conflict itself.

I was told a story by a friend about two sons of gods who would not stop arguing about the fate of man, so the gods banished them to an island where they could fight without interfering anymore in the lives of humans to prove their points. The rules were two - they could not kill each other and they could not leave the island themselves. They created a way to go back in time to influence people to fight for their side of the argument for them. They couldn't leave the island now but were able to bring people to them to prove their point. The island was situated on the edge of the afterlife so they could not influence people in life but guard over those who had already made their choice.
My theory is that it's not about whose side you are on but about the argument itself. What better way to prove that point than to create the very things to argue about. Thanks D&C for a wonderful ride!
If there are any more conflicts that I have missed, let me know.
Now, let the fun begin. Just look at the threads on this forum alone and see the conflict play out. My family can't be the only one that has had heated discussions about this show.
