My theory is that Jacob was the one put in the Cabin to be locked away. If we notice llana ( I think thats the one carrying the box with locke in it) was going to to see Jocob. where did she go, to the cabin, perhaps to release him.
She was told in the past that he needed her help. However when she got there he was gone. But he left her a sign the knife with the picture of the statue, why? because he knew that the Dark One (dressed in dark clothes) was posing as him (Jacob) and miss leading everyone on the island.
Jacob had to use Locke's body as the leader to get Richard to give him access to the statue and to trust him. So what happened, he got in but we did not see the so called Jacob at first. I believe he ( the Dark One black shirt) took on the shape of the real Jacob and was killed by Ben.
But I think the Plan might backfire! They showed Richard the body of John Locke dead, right. Now they go in two things can happen:
He (Jacob/white shirt) can change back to the way he looked. Maybe he can maybe he can't. Maybe Jacob has had prior forms he has taken on.
or, Maybe he stays as John Locke. Will the body of John Locke be enough to help his people know that he is the true Jacob. maybe it will or maybe they will go to War with him the real one here comes the Twist!
The Twist: Will Jack, Kate and others flash to where we left off and trust John Locke aka Jacob/white shirt and go against the Others lead by Richard? Could this be the War? After all Ben said we are the Good guys!
