Think about living your life over and over and knowing the same end result. Knowing that the place you live is being fought and ripped apart by people, who take advantage of life, and have no sense of living in peace. Also living always knowing someone wants you dead, and is waiting for that one chance to take it!
ENTER JACOB......
First of all who everyone refers to as Easu? ( The guy with Jacob at the beginning, who wants him dead"
Easu obvious died at some point, and how I think whoever is on the ship, comes to destroy what the Island is, and Easu tries to take control each time, and make them turn on Jacob, and kill him. But for some reason they never do, but kill him instead. Probably cause they can't find Jacob weaving his Tapestry in the Temple. Easu probably blames Jacob for his death and letting the people take control of the Island while he cowards away to sew! ( far fetched... Yup but this is a senario)
The Island after Easu is killed goes through its wars, and ripping apart with drilling, killing and building, and after so long Jacob does'nt want this anymore. The only way things can maybe change or make a bigger progress, is to die. If Jacob dies, he can maybe save everything. I think at this time, he is cursed to live in the temple and not leave unless he is off Island. If he leaves the Temple and walks freely on the Island the Smoke Monster will kill him. So he sits and awaites for his final destination of being found and stabbed, but not without letting the other know that he in fact exists.
Now that all the others, know for a fact that Jacob did live, and has now died, it almost gives them something to believe in something to fight for... Peace. Jacob will take form like Easu of a dead body and fight on land for what it rightfully his. This is the only way he can save the Island, and stop the ongoing life where he knows the final outcome. This gives him hope and a chance, to save everything once and for all.
