ok so there is a common feeling among the fans that the mystery man talking to jacob was being inhabited in the smoke monster. would it then be accurate to assume that jacob is the white light locke claimed to have seen in walkabout.
i think that throughout locke's island life he has been confronted by the white light(jacob) and the smoke (mystery man) in the attempt by either entity to gain leverage over each other - the game-
a further far out theory, but with significant roots, that i think gets overlooked is the fact that both "hosts" to these opposing entities have american accents. if they are from ancient egyptian culture then they should have dodgy egyptian accents. my guess - jacob and mystery man were actual american people, perhaps ordinary- perhaps important, that were the last two men alive from a FUTURE somehow apocalyptic event perhaps linked to this valenzeti equation that were inhabited by the opposing light and dark entities, and the end of the world was the end of the loop.
