So much has been posted regarding WH,H vs Alternate timeline. My bloody heads hurts trying to decifer the good comments from the assinine ones. Still, I was pondering some issues related to the show and wanted to discuss them here.
I think we can all agree that as of today, WH,H is the rule and nothing we have seen has disproven it. But I think we can all also agree that many main characters in the show (Hawking, Ben, Richard and Widmore to be precise)have felt it necessary to intervene in the lives of many people in order to ensure that they "reach their destiny". To me, this seems like an oxy moron. I think the best example of this is Hawking and Faraday's relationship.
Since season 3, Hawking has been a character that has some deeper understanding of future events specifically with respect to her son. If she has always known that Daniel's special mind be used for science only than I don't understand why she felt she should "force" him to 1) give up the piano 2) go to Oxford 3) graduate as youngest PHD 4) take up Widmore's offer to go on the freighter. It just seems a little suspicious that someone who knows what the future will hold should feel the need to get involved in order to ensure that said future does indeed occur.
So here's my point. What if the change in the timeline has already occurred. What if Lost is showing us how the different factions involved with the Island are trying to manipulate time in order to PREVENT the change from occurring. What if Hawking and company have always believed in WH,H but one day, somebody (most likely Faraday) was able to go back in time and change things. This change led to a new timeline for good or for ill. This new timeline is not what the powers that be (Hawking, Widmore, Ben or Richard???) want to happen so they decide to start manipulating this new timeline in order to re-create the original timeline.
what do y'all think??
