I should start by saying I am a firm believer in WHH. To that end i think that the incident is not the electromagnatism of the swan station becoming unstable, I think Jack or some other lostie actually take the hydrogen bomb to the swan site and detonate it, thus causing the incident. Everything that is happening now has always happened. At this point noone has changed anything and I believe that no matter what they won't be able to change anything unless of course they do nothing. To further prove my point, Faraday tells Dr. Chang he is from the future and that Chang must get everyone he can off the island, this has always happened. Dr. Chang then meets up with Hurley, Miles, and Jin and basically agrees they are from the future, that makes Dr. Chang begin to evacuate the island where he yells at his wife and baby Miles. Adult Miles finally understands why his father left him at an early age, once again this has! always happened. An additional example of WHH, Sayeed always shot young Ben, which in turn causes Kate and Sawyer to take Ben to the Hostiles, the fact that Sayeed shot Ben makes Ben the twisted mastermind he is in the future/present. The further bring this theory home, when Charlette is dying she tells Faraday she recognizes him, this means Faraday has always traveled to the past and has always gotten killed in the past. Everything that the losties are doing in the past has always happened, Jack thinks that by detonating the bomb he will change everyones future, but in reality by Jack detonating the bomb he causes the incident which causes the plane to crash, which causes Lost.
I have watched lost from the beggining and read a lot of posts/theories, I have never heard anyone speciffically say what the incident was, so are we so sure it's not the bomb?
I apologize if this theory is out there already, I did my best to read through other theories to make sure this has not been stated.
