So, we all know now that Jacob is a euphemism for God, and the Locke Double is the Devil. The devil is trying to make a point to God that man cannot have free will and not turn to evil (very blatant in the opening scene of the finale). The classic philosophical premise is that with free will comes selfishness, ergo evil. It's obvious that Ben's issue with Jacob is one that hearkens to that which Job faced with God. God (Jacob) has forsaken Job (Ben). Only difference is that Ben turned his back to God (lost faith) and Job didn't. I'm by no means religious, but I am fairly well read in philosophy and just happen to have read the Book of Job in High School. With God and the Devil, the question still remains whether the writers are going to continue with the religious rhetoric and make the real Locke the modern day Jesus.
