As far as I know these are not spoilers, just a theory.
We have been led to believe that Jacob is a good guy and the man in black is evil, but we have been mislead (the red herring). At its core, LOST is a battle of free will vs destiny. Jacob is a semi-deity who wishes to keep the time loop going by removing free will. How does he do this? He touches Kate, Sawyer, Jack, Hurley and Sayid and imparts in them the actions lthat leads them to their destinies. I believe that Sayid in 2007 was immune to this calling (he was actually happy and in love when he met Jacob and was immune). The favor that Jacob asks Ilana in the hospital is to capture Sayid and get him on Aljira 316, removing his free will to not go back to the island. Now this doesnt mean Jacob is evil. He needs to keep each time loop going because he does believe man makes progress and we will eventually get it right and not destroy each other, but the irony is its man's destiny to destroy each other because of free will. So now to the man in black. I think we wi! ll see 2 important scenes in season 6 with him. In order to prevent peoples free will, Jacob will use eloise or maybe Richard to trap the man in black in the cabin with the magic ash. So what happens. Eloise kills Daniel and she cant stand her destiny. I believe we will see a scene in where eloise tells Daniel that when he returns to the island he must find the cabin and make a break in the ash. In the episode where Daniel dies, there was a scene where he says to I believe Miles "Ill be right back". This is when he finds the cabin. Remember, hes a physicist genius and he can find it, even if it moves. So what happens. Eloise still kills Daniel-why- because Jacob is still alive at this point. Eloise knows that in order to stop this loop and not kill Daniel she also needs the Ocean 6 to return to the island. She knows what the manin black needs to stop her destiny of killing her son - a dead Locke. She knew of the man in blacks powers of inhabiting dead people an! d thats why they trapped him in the first place. So man in bl! ack take s over John, has Jacob killed, and the bomb goes off, and everyone dies now. WRONG. The electromagnetic black hole sucks the explosion down to the core of the island, so Juliet is dead at ground zero, but everyone else lives. However, the explosion still needs to occur. Imagine shaking a soda bottle a lot. Pressure builds up. So what do they do. They build the hatch over the black hole and every 108 minutes hit the numbers and release a bit of the pressure. Imagine now turning the soda bottle cap just a bit. But this releases radiation in small amounts causing the pregnancy problems. BUT I DIGRESS. The explosion also brings the 1977 losties to 2007. Everyone will now want to kill evil Locke and this is the war. Heres how the show ends. The manin black will be trapped but will make the losties an offer. He will offer them free will, the decision to stop 815 from crashing, they never hit the island, lead their lives, , Charlie and friends are alive, no looping, b! ut tells them that this leads to man's destiny of world destruction at a future date. Or you can have free will and decide 815 crashes, you keep looping, replaying the same destinies over and over again, your friends like Charlie still die, and you keep trying to change What Happened happened but never changing the future. Destiny is Free Will is Destiny--The Perfect CIRCLE!!!!
