I'm sure there has been a lot of talk about this and I haven't gone back to check. But has anyone noticed the importance of Fire/Ash as it pertains to keeping the "dark" forces at bay?
I think this is why Ilana decides to torch Jacob's cabin to insure that all potential remenants of evil are rejected back out into the island. I have this strange suspicion that cabin has been burned a few times before. Look at the gigantic tree standing in front of it when they burn it. It's limb is outstretched over the cabin and visibly on fire. Secondly, Lapitas makes a c ommend like "i'm no tree hugger but don't you think this is a bad idea in the middle of a jungle". Lastly look at the face of a tree. It's completely white. Almost looking like white ash that appears in a fireplace after woods been buring for a long period of time.
Also after Ben kills Jacob, Locke makes sre to roll his body into the firepit as if to "finalize" the cremation.
Ilana looks like a burn victim the first time we see him talking to Jacob in the hospital. Jacob freaks out when they bring the lantern into his cabin. Christina instead uses unnatural light forms like flashlight and lamps. Flaming arrows.
Anyone have any thoughts on this or see these same things?
