... 2007 Ellie has lived the past 30 years a few steps ahead of everyone else. Maybe because of her interaction with the Losties or because of the notebook, or both, she believes she’s been given a gift, or maybe a burden. She’s Mother Destiny – a great job until suddenly find yourself fired when you suddenly have no idea what’s around the corner. (Maybe when Ben tells John “destiny is a fickle bitch,” he was referring to Ellie.)
So if 2004 Ellie would convince her brain-damaged, broken spirited, pathetic son to the isle of death, because it was his destiny mind you, what exactly did she have in mind for the Oceanic 6?
Not to say she sent them off to die. She didn’t want Daniel to die so much as she wanted to keep the loop going, to prevent paradox. But it’s obvious she didn’t round up the Oceanic 6 so they could go back to the island to live out the rest of their lives in paradise...
