It's simple, there is no such thing as A future, only "YOUR" future. Which occures as you experience it, like Miles puts it to Hurley. You can't really change someone's past who you've experienced in the future, because it's a paradox. Like I said all along, time travel is relative. If you change someone's past in this show, it will change YOUR future, not theirs. Because the island shows it to you. So in this train of thought, what if all this time travelling we are seeing on the show is nothing more than a "vision" like all others we have seen? That is, fake Ben getting shot, fake DHARMA, fake everything. Just empty houses and a ghost town populated by apparitions of the island. One day we see another bright flash of light, and then they are all gone, and our Losties are back in the correct "time" according to them. What if they are not in the past at all, what if it's the island showing them what they need to ! see and nothing more?
It's pretty simple, it's all about perception. If the island wants to influence you, it undoubtedly can show you an alternate past/future just like it shows you non-existant horses, dead relatives, etc... this "DHARMA" we are seeing can all be an "apparition" no more real then Yemi was to Eko, or Walt was to John, or Dave was to Hurley. What if the original assumption of most of us about the island is really true, and it's really to judge people based on good and evil, and the island for this purpose is giving Sawyer, Miles, Hurley and Kate an interesting twist: present a man that you all hate, then show you a past to see what you do if you are presented with the case of saving his life as a kid, or not. For Sayid, it's show you the man you hate as a child, and see if you kill him or not. And giving Sun a twist also, she needs to prove she deserves her husbands good graces because she was unfaithful, now she must embark on a hero's journey to find him.
As I'm seeing more and more of what happened with the O6 before they came back to the island, I'm starting to see some very interesting parallels. As I've said before Kate and Aaron scenes creep me out. Something just doesn't add up with them two, and everyone' reactions to Aaron in the real world. And just thinking that there's a possibility he's not real, or only sometimes real, and is just an apparition of the island like all others is too Sixth Sense for me, but it's a possibility. I mean, a Charlie apparition influenced Hurley to go back, a Christian apparition influenced Jack to go back. Why not an Aaron apparition? Theory by Matt
