I believe that Oceanic people that are left are stuck in a time loop. I think that the plane has crashed but now that time travel has been thrown in that they are now stuck in a time loop.
We know the donkey wheel is a thing that makes you jump through time. What if at some point the oceanic people get taken back to 2004, the day the plane crashes. The plane crashes and the current Jack, Sawyer, Kate, etc see it crash. However they come across the dead bodies of themseleves and realise something has to be done.
The reason they would be dead is that the island does not want two of the same people running around (i.e jack, hurley, sawyer,etc) as it will change everything (lifestyle, cause of events) so it gets rid of the people on the plane.
The oceanic people realise that they will need to do everything that happened all over again. They will all have their memories erased (maybe in room 23) of everything that has happened AFTER the plane crash.
I think that Richard and Ben will be responsible for putting the people in amongst the other survivers (i.e the ones who are dead - Charlie, Shannon, Boone). This is why Jack awakes in the jungle away from everyone else as his body was put there by Richardm, ben or whoever else was resonsible.
This is why they didn't have to many injuries after the original plane crash because they weren't actually in the crash, they were placed AMONGST the crash in order to make them THINK they had been in the plane crash.
This is why Jack, Kate & Hurley were kidnapped back in season 2, because they were gonna leave the island by submarine and they CANT leave the island or else all the events wouldn't have happened (inc erased memory) and they would not exist.
This is why Rose made the comment way back in season 1 after she heard the smoke monster that she recognised the noise...thats because she does, as she has heard it MANY times before as she is stuck in the time loop also.Theory by MissingCharlie
