there has probably been a post already but i just want to write one just to clear my head after watching the last episode "Whatever happened , happened"
Firstly i must say the last scene was quality ..i didnt think i would miss the character of locke. . but him just sat there waiting for ben to wake up was brilliant... and the last line " welcome to the land of the living" how scary sounding was that line...
anyway the theory..so ben gets shot, who is then rushed to juliet who eventually cant save him ..so the only person who can save him is Dr Jack Shepard..
however jack decides not to save/fix him because he thinks whatever happened in the future with old ben wont happen again if he aint alive ...
but as the episode went on it turns out that by kate and sawyer taking young ben to richard alpert he says that he will be one of them and will become an other like richard and his crew and also that he will lose his innocence . . so whatever richard does to him in that temple will turn him into a bad person in the long run....
so to me its the fact that jack dosn't do anything to save him again will actually keep everything the same..
so basically jack deciding not to save ben has happened before ...nothings changed but jack thinks he has changed everything by not saving him...confusing lol
i believe Kate and saywer have done this before , taking ben to alpert and given ben to richard to save.. but richard this time changes his words from the first time they have met, saying .. "are you sure you want me to take him"
it was like richard was giving them a chance to change events by not giving him ben leading to his innocence being taken away and eventually becomming old ben in 2004 . he knew when kate and sawyer would arrive with ben , hence why he just arrived from nowhere in the jungle.
So to sum up , Jack saving ben at that point in time would of changed the way way ben grew up . He would never of gone to alpert and would never of lost his innocence ...
sorry if i have repeated anyone else but there you go
