First time to post a theory ...
I believe Christian Sheppard had previously been on the island. That is why he was an alcholic off the island (like Jack). While on the island, he had gone through many of the same issues as John Locke, which is why he knew how to help John. Upon "escaping" the island, he had to go around to influence specific people to board the airline, so he could return to the island in the similar manner as Jeremy Bentham. We never found out how Christian died, but he knew he had to be dead to return to the island.
Christian is really alive on the island (like John coming back to life when returning), but since he knows the island so well, he as been able to move around so quickly.
I know this seems pretty far fetched with many holes in it, but I am still working out the evidence to support the theory. The shoes are a big deal. I think Ray is somehow involved with it. I even think aaron (Christian's grandson) is the adam and Ji Yeon is the eve from the caves. Somehow Christian needs his bloodline to be on the island. ok, go ahead and kill this theory.
