The so called purge of the dharma people or the war that Widmore has spoken of is maybe going to happen or already has in the past with the 815 survivors joining young Ben and Richard to defeat Widmore and purge the island of Dharma employees. no wonder Widmore said to Locke the wrong side is going to win, in his eyes the wrong side has already won, Ben and his group of time traveling group of jack, sawyer, Juliet etc by removing him from the island in the past as we see it.
this part if more far fetched but its still a theory i think of it could also maybe explain why the identity of so many others has remained a mystery, they are maybe other versions of 815 survivors who have lived on from the past ie old jin, juliets, sawyers etc
maybe ben has been trying his best to keep these two versions of the losties from each other for some reason and that would explain his desperate and unemotional decision making at times. there has been a hint two version of each character could exist in a timeline when sawyer saw kate and claire in the jungle during a flash, since as far as we know the sawyer of that timeline didn't disappear or have a time travel seizure the chance was there sawyer could of come face to face with himself in the past/present depending on each sawyers perspective.
