First of all, LaFleur was a Gem. Completely character driven and the best Lost episode other than perhaps Walkabout I have ever seen. Great stuff.
Now, let's look at the on island time line.
?? - Long ago, the statue is in tact, the well has not been dug. I suspect the statue was toppled due to the volcano eruption, which Olivia described also as having happened a long time ago. Is the eruption significant?
54 - Richard meets Locke and buries Jughead. Richard appears to be aware of Jacob. Widmore is 17.
61 - Horace found baby Ben and was with Olivia
70 - Penny is likely born here, given she is around 30 in 2003. Widmore was certainly on the island. Was Penny? Charlotte likely born around this time as well. Both ladies may have been born slightly earlier.
72 - Horace brought an 11 year Ben to the island, is still with Olivia and has short hair.
73 - Horace now has long hair, and Olivia is nowhere to be found. It must be at least 73 when Sawyer meets him for him to have grown his hair out so much. It may be later. My take is that Olivia's dissapearance must be related to the hostiles although perhaps she simply left the island for other reasons. Daniel sees a young Charlotte.
74 - Ben meets Richard. It had been a couple of birthdays I believe before Ben got upset with his dad and ran out into the woods.
76 - Ben has been around the losties for 3 years at this point, long enough for him to remember them well despite any name changes. He surely recognized Juliet, and this explains why he may have been so facinated with her. This is also the time where Daniel gets involved with the Orchid project, another likely time for "the incident". Horace has a baby with Amy. Who is the baby? Jacob would seem too old for this to be him. This is the last known baby to be conceived and born on the island, if in fact Amy never left. Dharma losties reunite with the 06.
84 to 91 - Widmore leaves the island. If he lead for 30 years and took over in 54 then 84 is the soonest he left and certainly 91 during the purge would have been the latest. If he leaves near 84, this could be related to "the incident"
87 - Rousseau's team arrives. Ben has not yet committed the Purge but somehow claims her baby Alex.
91 - The Purge, Ben seems to claim leadership of the Hostiles.

I just wanted to lay that all out relative to the information we just learned tonight. I really believe what we're going to see is this season build towards Daniel attempting to get the losties back to the present. This leads to his involvement at the Orchid creating, "The Incident". I have no idea what that will mean in the long run but it seems to be the most fitting finale, both answering a major question and wrapping up the Dharma era story.
It may take place over a couple of years so we could also be treated to some good Ben moments involving his relationship to the Hostiles, as well as seeing more of the kids, Penny, Charlotte, and Baby Horace on the island. And perhaps Annie as well. I don't think we'll work all the way back up to the Purge. I think the reasons for it however will be laid out. In the end the time jump to the future will be successful, but I would expect at least a couple of casualties including Miles and Daniel. I say that only because people added after season 1 have had a high mortality rate.
The fact that the statue was brought back up again though is interesting, A: because it was teased to us by not showing the front, which almost seems to guarantee we'll see the whole thing at some point, and B: because it was made almost "too" obvious that it was built way way way in the past. Perhaps it wasn't in the past as several people have suggested, although I tend to believe it was. The very interesting part is that if there are no time flashes, then how do we get back to that point? If Daniel is in the Orchid though messing around with time properties then I suppose anything is possible.
And I kind of want Kate to die now. She's never seemed very useful and now that Sawyer is happy with Juliet, I really don't care to see Skate again. It would seem however that we are looking at Skate and Jacliet I guess in the end. Maybe they'll all join a cult and then they can just share. Theory by Locke4God
