While we can 100% certain that the losties are now living in two time zones we only have proof that some of them are in Dharma time aka 1977. We still are yet to know what time period Locke, Ben, Sun etc are in. Most people have assumed that they are in January 2008 as this is the date on the paper that Widmore shows to Locke in TLADOJB. This would appear to make sense as the O6 left in December 2004 and returned three years later. A few things got me thinking that this might not be the case. These are the current state of New Otherton and the conversation between Charles Widmore and John Locke in TLADOJB.
Lets begin with the current state of New Otherton.
To put it simply the place is a wreck. It looks abandoned but most importantly there are Dharma signs and photos lying around. This would seem to suggest that the others/hostiles have never actually lived there. This raises the question, well in my mind anyway, what has changed and how could it when we have constantly been told that you cant change anything?
I think that as a result of what the losties are up to right now in Dharma time the purge doesnt happen.
Now the conversation between John and Charles. Charles talks about a coming war.
I think the current state of the barracks is as a result of the war bewteen Dharma and the hostiles resulting in the DI being wiped out.
Whatever happened, happens, but slightly differently.
In other words a war instead of the purge.
Charles told Locke about this when they met in January 2008.
This is where I think the idea of three time periods gets involved.
Jan 2008 is current off island time, some time in the future is flight 316 crashing, 1977 is DI time. Whatever time period the passengers of flight 316 are in its not 2008. Im gonna guess that its 2010 and the first half of season 6 will be about the events that occur in this time window prior to everyone being reunited for the conclusion of Lost Theory by Dharma Workman
