Ok first attempt at a theory so go easy please lol.
yes i think the timeline has been changed (how much or how little we don't know yet). i just cant see a neat freak like benjamin linus leaving all those signs as strewn all over the place not to mention with all the activity we seen on the island and especially the barracks that not one single person would go oh look theres the dharma initiave processing office hmmm wonder what happend here.
one small point on the whatever happened happened theory that no one seems to have picked up on is locke. ok here goes and if i'm way off base than may i turn into a time travelling bunny.
they were never supposed to leave the island according to our bald wonder but if thats so and if they had to go back into the past in order to set things in motion then how would they have ended up in dharma times in the 70's.
well lets see. christian told locke he was supposed to turn the wheel and not ben and this info was allededly straight from jacob but as we know ben turns the wheel cue time travelling hijinks. locke then does what he was supposed to do in the first place and lo and behold island stops skipping and our island and left behinders are smack damn bang exactly where their suppose to be 1974.
three years pass the 06 get on 316 and whoosh lo and behold they're whisked off the plane by some unseen force (island/jacob, the manufacturers of richard's eyeliner whoever) and they too are smack damn in the middle of where they should be.
even if they hadn't have left the island locke still was supposed to turn the wheel and they would have been exactly where they ended up in the 70;s working in the dharma initiave, ready willing and able to influence exactly what they needed to influence.
maybe the real reason ben turned the wheel was to stop this happening or maybe just to mess with locke's head once again.
so we have our losties back in time and ready to do some good/bad things that will affect the island and its timeline. we also have locke walking around, talking and smiling and eating fruit like any normal dead person.
now if locke is as in tune with the island as he so clearly thinks he is he's gonna know something is up and i think that once again mr. locke is gonna have to go to that cabin in the woods and once again going to turn that wheel. Theory by natureboy
