Ya'll know by now I'm a firm believer that time is looping in Lost. What I am thinking now is that a lot of the dreams people have are actually suppressed memories of the future bleeding through their subconscious. If time is looping, everything has happened already, so these dreams are like visions of the future. Here's a bunch of examples, feel free to add more in comments. Please don't think that these dreams ARE the exact memories, more of a realization on a subconscious level, a level which would be accessible while dreaming.
1. Locke's vision of Boone bloody and dying. This could be a subconscious memory of Boone's death.
2. Locke's legs failing when he reached the plane. He wanted to climb up, but since time is already looping, he can't change the past, so he can't climb up: Boone has to, and thats the only way that could happen.
3. Hurley's vision of Jin speaking English when he is put in charge of managing the food in "everybody hates hugo". Since Jin does speak english pretty well now, it could have been a memory, although Jin says Hurley is actually speaking korean (maybe he learns it on the island?).
4. Charlie's vision of the catholic painting followed by "you have to save the baby".
5. Charlie's vision of his childhood where he is told he must save the family by becoming a musician, and it pans to him playing piano on the beach (i think this may be the episode where someone is drowning in the water).
6. Boone has a vision where Shannon is killed by the smoke monster.
7. Eko has a vision where he is told to help Locke find the question mark.
8. Locke's vision where Walt tells him to get up because he has work to do, and prevents him from killing himself.
9. Demond's encounter with Jack in the stadium where he seems to know that the woman will survive and that he will meet Jack again.
10. Demond's visions of Charlie's death. This is one of the most interesting ones, because I think that each time loop plays out a little bit differently. Desmond remembers the way Charlie dies originally, but course correction kills him a different way the next time. He fixes it, it happens again. Eventually he is able to keep fixing it long enough for Charlie to die in the station!
11. Locke's weird premonitions about the weather.
12. Desmond's vision of Claire leaving the island with the baby. I think this will eventually happen.
13. Child Locke's memories of the smoke monster
14. Childe Locke's memories of which items are his (including the knife, which is his in the future)
I think that possibly being "special" correlates to how much of the time loop you can remember. Locke and Ben are "special" and can access more of their memory about the future, which explains their strange knowledge. I know there are lots of possible theories for the visions and dreams in the show, but this is mine.
Disclaimer: Lots of people think the visions and dreams in the show come from Jacob and the Island, and definitely some of them do. For instance, Kate's dream in which Claire is in her home telling her not to come back seems more like a psychic message than a memory. This theory does not explain every dream or vision, just the ones in this theory. Theory by ivey_driveshaft
