So my very first theory on here goes as follows:
After watching "LaFleur" we know that Sawyer, Juliet, Miles, Daniel and Jin flashed briefly into the "time of the four toed statue" and that Sawyer was holding onto the rope from the well that John fell into. So, since that rope traveled with them, after leaving, it stayed behind just like Charlotte did.
I don't have a good guess as to what it might be right now-this show gets crazier and crazier each week-I do believe though, that the people from the era of that statue discovered the rope buried in the ground, decided to dig up that site and discovered the "pocket of energy" or something and harnessed it by building the wheel.
To back that up, we know the wheel was in there when Dharma was building The Orchid, thus, the "statue people" had to have built the wheel. As to my separate theory as to what the statue might be of, it looks Egyptian, but sure hope it isn't because that would be retarded. My idea is that the statue is somehow related to the Losties because I do believe there is one more flash coming, and it is going to be......DANIEL, except he will travel himself back to the beginning of the Island and the people there will worship him because he will know the future. GodSpeed Daniel!!
