Ok, this will be all over the place and not a complete theory, but I have some thoughts that make some sense.
I'll get right to the point. In the very first episode (pilot), that is something that has already happened. In other words, it's not in real-time. I think real-time will be 4/8/15 16:23:42. This will be current time, and the time of the "incident". When it's all said and done, I think that will also be the time of the plane crash, and then time will finally go on like normal just as fate planned. Somehow, someone keeps preventing something from happening on 4/8/15 at 16:23:42. Maybe that jughead hydrogen bomb goes off at this time. I think that "the others" keep getting sent back in time to try and change whatever event will happen on that date and time.
We are brought into the story right when time skips back to the plane crash event. Just like a broken record that keeps skipping... we are brought back to the start of this event... and when the show ends, we will see the ending which will lead to a plane crash. Instead of skipping, time will move on.
This show is about fate and trying to change it, but eventually learning to accept it... or maybe being able to change it! I just don't know, but everything leads towards it being one or the other. Maybe time keeps skipping like a broken record until people eventually accept fate. Maybe it's skipping until people eventually change fate. Fact is, this is one of the time loops that we keep seeing with a current set of others (pawn pieces).
I believe that each plane event (oceanic, ajira, the widmore plane) are all the same in that a plane is SUPPOSED to crash. I believe the show will end with the plane crashing into the ocean with NO SURVIVORS. I think that the island will be moved or blown up, and the 6 survivors will die in a plane crash just like fate has planned.
I believe that there are 2 sides in Lost. There is good and then there is evil and I'm starting to lean towards Charles Widmore representing the good in that he is trying to ensure that fate goes on. I think Ben could be the one who is trying to change fate... or it could be that they are both just trying to see who can change fate, by each person sending their own set of "others" (pawns) out to try and change fate. This could be why Widmore calls the others "his people".
Also, when we recently see the losties go back to the island and Jack opens his eyes just like in the pilot... well that is because it's the same event, it's just that the circumstances are different... but we will learn that the outcome will be the same. I think that each time Ben and Widmore keeps sending different sets of people to see if they can change fate, but each time they will die.
I don't exactly know why Ben and or Widmore is trying to change or prevent things... could be that they are trying to go back and prevent their own death, or the death of someone else, or maybe they are trying to prevent the end of the world (the so called "incident")... I simply don't know, but I am a true believer that this show has to do with preventing and accepting fate and we will learn that you cannot change it. The incident could be the end of mankind, and DHARMA was somehow set up to prevent that from happening.
Things will just happen that are SUPPOSED to happen. I believe I'm right about the numbers being a date and time, and maybe this so-called incident happens or is SUPPOSED to happen at this time. This could be why we keep seeing events repeat until things are set in motion.
I know this is not complete and doesn't explain everything, but I think I'm on to something big here. It has to do with fate for sure, and maybe learning to accept it.
Thanks for reading. I love how this show keeps us guessing and so intrigued. Theory by RMW
