The title pretty much sums it up, but I have been putting a lot of thought into time travel in general lately and I have come up with the idea that in time travel it is actually impossible to change the past. The idea hit me when I was watching this bad Disney original movie called Minutemen where these high school boys travel back in time to prevent losers from making big mistakes that effect their social lives. For example, one kid comes out of the shower after gym to find that his clothes have been taken. However, the time travelers go back in time and appear with clothes for him to wear. This sounds possible based on most other time traveling stuff out there but think about it. How can there be two events taking place at exactly one point in time? Say this event happened at noon on Sep. 12 2006. According to this movie, the nerd both lost his clothes and was humiliated at this time and also received new cloth! es from the time travelers at exactly the same time. This is impossible. Either the kid was humiliated or he wasn't. This is probably confusing but it's actually quite simple. The main point is that the past cannot be changed because it has already happened. When one time travels to the past, everything one does is actually in the past, so it is impossible to change it because everything that the time traveler does in the past has already had consequences on the future.
Sorry if I explained this in a confusing way, but I think this is how the writers are looking at time travel and it really explains a lot that has happened in the time travel arc. Feel free to leave comments and questions. Theory by Pat
