1. While living in the Dharma days, Hurley will have a pet bird or parrot that he will teach to say his name. This bird (or one of its descendants)will be released into the jungle and will eventually become the Hurley-bird that we saw in seasons 1 and 2. I know almost 30 years pass between the Dharma days and the 815 crash but maybe the offspring of the original Hurley-bird learned how to say "Hurley" by mimicking the original.
2. Hurley will program the password for the jamming equipment in the looking glass. Like Vozzek, I used to be sure that Charlie would somehow end up being the one who set up the "Good Vibrations" password, but now I'm starting to think that Hurley will do it, and he will set it up so that it will be easy for Charlie to crack it right before his death in 2004.
3. Back in the Dharma days Jack, Kate, Jin, Sawyer, and Hurley will all provide young Ben with loads of information about themselves, including intimate and specific details about their lives before crashing on the island. This explains why in 2004, Ben has detailed files on them. It used to always bother me how Ben knew every little detail about the losties, (he even had info on jacks ex-wife) but now with the introduction of the time travel angle things are making a little more sense. I also believe that this is the reason why Ben sends for jack, kate, hurley, and sawyer in season 2. He wants to see his friends/mentors from when he was a kid in the Dharma days.
4. The Dharma losties will also pass on knowledge to either Ben or Richard about the circumstances that led all the key players in Lost to be on flight 815. Then in 2004, Ben and/or Richard will then use their people to go into the outside world to make sure the key players get on the plane. One example of this would be the woman who kept the gate open at the airport and let hurley on at the last minute. (and who would later be seen at Oxford telling Desmond that Faraday never worked there.) If you look closely enough at the circumstances of how each of them came to be on flight 815 you can see how someone could have manipulated events to ensure that each of them got on that plane. Take kate for example, she got caught by the marshall because the farmer she was staying with in australia (i can't remember his name) saw her wanted poster at the grocery store and called the cops. I'm thinking that one of bens people put that wanted poster in that grocery store in austral! ia, making sure that the farmer guy would see it, in turn ensuring that kate would be caught and put on 815. they also could have sent people to pay off lockes travel guide to make sure that he didn't let locke go on the walkabout. after not letting locke go on the walkabout, the travel guide even says that the company would refund lockes money and pay for his flight back to america.
5. The runway that the others were building in seas. 3 will allow the losties (whatever is left of them) to use ajira air flight 816 to fly out and away from the island at the end of the series.
random thoughts:
something that has always bothered me about the pilot episode: when jack runs out onto the beach in the opening scene and starts running around helping his fellow losties out, a number of very major characters are conspicuosly absent: kate, sawyer, sun, walt, sayid. i always thought there was a reason for this and it might be the big clue the producers have been hinting at since day 1(besides the weird black tube right next to jack when he wakes up in the very beginning of the ep. nobody ever brings up the fact that these characters aren't in the beach scene and i'd be really interested to know what everybody else thinks about it.
