Somebody changed the future. When Frank and Sun went to the barracks, we clearly see that it is not the same as we seen before.
It still got the hanging signs and the pictures of the recruits from Dharma.
Let' recap what have been said about changing the future:
Faraday said, "Whatever Happened, Happened"
His mother said, "The universe, unfortunately, has a way of course correcting. That man was supposed to die. That was his path just as it's your path to go to the island. You don't do it because you choose to, Desmond. You do it because you're supposed to"
What if the future was already changed when the losties crashed, and the only way to course correct it is with time travel? Or maybe, ambitious teenager Ben learns about the future purge and chooses a different side (hostiles) and causes the incident (changing the future), leaving Charles Widmore without power off the island.
I think this is the War that Widmore told Locke. Ben protecting the future he creating, and Widmore doing everything he can to "course correct it".
I also believe that Sun did not travelling time is a way for the writers to show us the constant shifts of the future done by the losties stucked in the past.
