Ok, so I was 100% on board with a changed time line until I thought of something. If the time line has changed, something I may be able to be persuaded to believe, how the neck did the runway get built. The very presence of the runway, no matter what otherville looks like means things happened as we know them. Otherville looking different can occur by way of seeing a building previously not shown in entirety or at all.
We've only seen the rec room, Ben's crib and Juliette's crib, right?
So who's to say this just isn't a building we've seen. Sure, it can be said that someone making this claim must account for NOT taking down all the Dharma stuff, but I say, you should account for why they WOULD take it down. I mean like, who cares, leave it up. They certainly didn't change the labels on the food and medicines.
So, I feel like LOTS of season five are basically one gigantic flashback-The Island's flashback.
We are now observing how certain events came to pass.
I feel quite certain that Sun and Ben and Frank will get to the past, or at the very least communicate with the past and Ben will give little Ben some information that will be crucial to things later-later for little Ben, but already for us and Big Beloved old Ben.
It would explain why Ben always seems one step ahead of everyone, he told his younger self everything that would happen.
Now, I do think that there are micro changes to things, or else Ben wouldn't be so surprised Jin is alive, that I cannot quite wrap my brain around right now, unless he was just being his lying self.
I also think that Sayid will contribute to the war between the Hostiles and Dharma; the one that ultimately leads to the final deterioration of relations and the purge. And it's going to be with Ben's help. Though I do not recall the chronology exactly, and if the zorro on here is the same zorro i'm familiar with from another site, I hope he reads this as he'll know, I think by the time Ben meets Sayid in the cell, he's either about to meet Richard in the jungle, or he already has. If he has, he's possibly continued to correspond with him, if he hasn't, it's possible we didn't see all of their conversation, and HE tells Richard that Dharma has one of his men, thinking he's doing a good thing and trying to save Sayid.
Fast forward to season 2-Ben knows DARN WELL that Sayid will not kill him no matte what he says and does. He knows this because he's already met Sayid, and he has heard it from his future self. (I am predicting that will happen.)
Also, isn't it odd that Juliet and Sawyer both likely "checked in" Ben?
I guess I've sorta wandered off from a theory now huh. Ok, so I don't believe there has been a timeline alteration, at least not a major one, because the runway is still there. I don't think that we can simultaneously argue that the timeline has changed so much that Otherville looks more like abandoned Dharmaville, but the runway can still look so freshly made. There's just a major disconnect there for me. Theory by Johnny
