Sorry guys, first theory on the site. I'll try to stay away from rambling too much. This is mostly just a few ideas on things that have come to light with "LaFleur"
First thing is who might be Amy/Horace's child?
Well we know it's a boy, born in the mid-seventies. As I and most people would agree it is probably someone we know. I can only come up with two plausible possibilities.
Desmond. The more unlikely but more shocking choice. He IS special after all. Maybe that is why, because he was born on the island. Perhaps after Dharma gets wind of the purge that they cannot stop (see Pierre Chang/Farraday comic-con video) they begin to remove the women and children from the island. Goodbye Charlotte, goodbye Amy and baby Desmond.
Choice two?
Ethan Rom. He is the more plausible choice I'd say. His age and stuff fits. Maybe Amelia, from "Tale of Two Cities" is Amy. It could be a shortened name. Now why would two dharma members now be with the others? Well if I recall correctly, I believe Ben said when asked about the dead people in the pit something like "I was one of the few people who were smart enough to not end up in that ditch." So he wasn't the only one who jumped sides...maybe Ethan/mom did as well.
Okay, my last part is about Horace/Amy's marriage and the conflict it presents regarding Olivia Goodspeed.
I highly doubt the writers overlooked Olivia's character, especially considering it was played by a formidable actress like Samantha Mathis. So how could you explain his apparent marriages to two different women?
He isn't married to one of them....yeah. He is seen w/ Olivia one time. In the car when they find Roger/Emily as she is in labor with Ben. Other than that they aren't seen really together. But we do know her last name is Goodspeed from her name tag when she is the teacher in the school....so what could that mean?
It COULD mean that the writers were playing us all along. Olivia Goodspeed has the same last name as Horace because....they are siblings. Brother and sister.
So the getaway he was building for he and the Mrs. was with Amy, not his sister Olivia :)
Okay, that's all I've got. I hope to see some feedback, even if it's pointing out any flaws. Thanks for reading. Theory by Hanelle
