What if Charlie, the newly born child of Desmond and Penelope is none other than the Mastermind of evil Charles Widmore himself. Which would mean Charles Widmore is his own Grandfather. Now hear me out.
If the island, and the outside world can move independently of one another, and As Daniel Faraday explained, the rules of time do not apply to him, what if this is possible.
If Charles Widmore was raised during the Early to mid 60's on the island as we have seen thus far, and he is convinced it once belonged to him, we can even guess that the Donkey Wheel, may have been used by him before, and we know he has left the island.
Now what if time exists on a single line in LOST, but certain events are Dependant on one another, neither came before or after one another, and they were each the cause and effect of their own creation. Such as John Locke telling Richard Alpert to visit him in the future after the future already happened, was this due to lockes meddling within the past or did locke intervene with the past because of the future. Thusly why can't Charles Widmore exist because his Daughter gives birth to him, Meanwhile She exists due to his birth.
-If Desmond, Penelope and Charlie all go to the island in it's current Time Warping state than now we have a good setup.
-During this time, they could visit the Early 50's/Late 40's era of the island.
-If this were to happen, It would not be out of the question for the Others/Alpert to take the baby, and even kill Desmond and Penelope.
-If time were then dislodged during this time, or The baby could remain in this time line, then Charles Widmore can grow up on the island when we saw him.
-Then later return to the real world, and give birth to Penelope/and or have her on the island.
