When you are done, I hope to have convinced you : How Hurley was convinced to come back, why he brought the guitar ON the plane, why its relevant that his dad likes expose (seriously!), who Kate's father is, Jack is not Sawyer's proxy, Kate is NOT pregnant, and dr. candle is NOT Miles father. Lets begin.
Locke is not the only person acting as a proxy. Many of us have noticed other connections as well. This theory explains how EVERYONE ON FLIGHT 815 WAS PROXIED ON 316. Some people are proxies for multiple 815ers. This list is divided into those still alive, and those who have died. People on 815 who have since died must have one of their personal items brought as well as their circumstances replicated. People on 815 who are still alive need only have their circumstances replicated. No one is allowed to be their own proxy (not sure why yet).
People who are still alive, and how they are proxied
Jack- Hurley is Jack's proxy. His calm demeanor and comforting of the man in the seat next to him mirrors Jack's comforting of Rose
Kate- Sayid is being extradited to Iraq (I didn't come up with this so props to whoever did). The only way he'd be flying out of America is if he was being brought back as a fugitve for a crime he commited somewhere else. Sayid is Kate
Sayid- Sun is sayid. Sawyer says "he sat with his hands in his lap the whole flight, never said a word". That's Sun on 316.
Sun- Kate is Sun. She was standing in line at the airport, and is about to change her mind and leave. Then she sees Jack turn around and look at her, and she decides to go with. This is exactly what happens to Sun when she boarded 815
Jin- La Piedus is Jin. Jin was flying to LA for business. La Piedus is also on the plane for business (he's the pilot, this one i'm open to other suggestions)
Sawyer- Ben is a proxy for Sawyer. Before Sawyer was deported he was in a bar brawl! It could not be Jack with his letter, Jack is trying to get rid of his letter, not hold onto it forever!
Rose- The new Arab guy is a proxy for Rose. He is a nervous flyer who is comforted by the person sitting next to him. (I'm open to interpretation here too)
Bernard- Ben is a proxy for Bernard because he gets up and walks around during the flight (before ending up in the bathroom to proxy charlie)
Claire- The moment you've all been waiting for. Claire's proxy is the air marshall Ilana, and she is pregnant with Miles! In the comicon 2008 video you can hear Candle call to Ilana to get the baby. We also see him in bed with a different woman. Candle is NOT Miles' father.
Walt- This is the one that i'm sure will be most controversial and I'm open to suggestion. Kate is a proxy for Walt because La piedus is her father. Everyone else on the flight we either know their parents (jack-christian sun-paik hurley-cheech) or they could not be La piedus' child (Locke is too old, Sayid is a native Iraqi who does not look white at all). There is no other way that I can think of for the Walt connection to be made, and I'm open to other theories here.
Dead People, their items, and their proxies
Locke- The item of Locke's is the letter he wrote for Jack. Jack is also Locke's proxy for recreating his circumstances because he has become a "man of faith". Locke was always the man of faith, jack was the man of science (see Man of Faith, Man of Science).
Charlie- Charlie's item is his guitar case (not the same one as on the Island). Ben is a proxy for charlie's circumstances because he goes to the bathroom while the plane crashes.
Ana Lucia- Hurley will have a vision of Ana Lucia that tells him how to get one of her items. It's in the guitar case. Yall aren't gonna like this part. Ben is the proxy for Ana Lucia because she had just avenged the murder of her daughter, and so did he. Unless you guys can come up with a better explanation, I'm set on Penny being dead.
Eko- Hurley had visions of Eko as well. Eko will tell him how to get an item, which is in the guitar case. The new Arab guy is also a proxy for Eko's circumstances, because I believe he is a priest. I am not basing this on much other than his compassion towards Jack about Locke's death, but I like it.
Shannon- I am unsure about who has Shannon's item. It could be Kate's sunglasses, or Hurley could have a vision of her and have an item in his guitar case (but he hasn't had visions of her before so I think it's Kate's sunglasses). Kate is a proxy for Shannon's actions because she just had an awkward one night stand with a man hopelessly in love with her. Her demeanor clearly indicates shannon "just because we're on this plane doesn't mean we're together".
Boone- I don't remember so I won't say for sure, but I feel like Boone had an eye covering similar to the one Hurley was wearing on the flight. Otherwise the whereabouts of his item are unknown, possibly in the guitar case. Jack is a proxy for Boone because he is on the other end of Kate being Shannon's proxy.
Libby- Libby will be the one to convince Hurley to go back to the Island. He will see a vision of her and it will convince him to believe the other visions of charlie, eko, and ana lucia. I feel like LIbby gave hurley a necklace or sand dollar or something but even if she didn't she can tell him where to get an item in the vision. Hurley is also the proxy for LIbby's circumstances- she was just recently let out of a mental institution.
Nikki and Paulo- I love this, they are finally relevant! Hurley gets personal items of Nikki and Paulo from his father, who has used his fortune to buy Expose memoribilia. It's so stupid, yet makes so much sense. As for who proxies their circumstances, I think it could also be Jack and Kate. Kate feels like Jack is only using her (Remember how hurt she was when she found out he only talked to her to get her to go back), and Jack is single minded in his goal (except instead of diamonds its getting back to the island). I'm open to suggestion here too.
Michael- I think that Michael's item is the sling that Ben is wearing, but I'm open to interpretation. I also think Lapiedus proxies Michael's circumstances by being Kate's father, but open to suggestion here too.
Christian is obvious Locke has his shoes and proxies his circumstances by having recently died (might even be why Locke has to die)
