Hi all. I woke up this morning realizing Lost was on today (Yeah!) and a theory to explain alot of stuff popped into my head. The Losties including some of the Oceanic Six may be the parents/grandparents/ancestors of some of the other characters we know. It might even be that they are parents quite far back in time and may even be the literal Adam and Eve that give rise to all of humanity! Hence the Adam and Even skeletons. But, they have to be on the island and go back into the past to do this. Since the O6 left the island, they don't go back in time to be parents/grandparents/ancestors and the result is death for their lineage!
Here is an example. Why did Charlotte die? She died because at least 1 of Oceanic Six are her ancestors (probably parents) but were not on the island in the right time for her or her ancestor (parents/grandparents) to be conceived. Maybe Kate is her mom. When the island flashed back to a time when Charlotte was supposed to be born and living on the island (around '70s-80's Dharma time) and she had not been born becuase her mom, or ancestor was not on the island (because of the O6 leaving), then she died and her whole lineage would also have died. Since we didnt see anyone else die yet, I am assuming that one of the O6 were actully her parents and not further back then that.
For Miles, I am guessing the Sun is his grandmother and that Sun and Jin's daughter (Jin Yeon) or possibly another child they have later, is Miles' mother. Mile's father is Pierre Change. Miles' nose is starting to bleed and he too will die if Sun does not get back to the island to be with Jin. It is possible that Sun's baby has to come back too.
Somehow, Sawyer and Juliet's lineage must also come from the O6. I am guessing that so does Ben's (Juliet is his mom, maybe Jack is his dad), Widmore's and Ms. Hawkings! Perhaps all of Humanity has direct lineage through at least 1 of the O6 being on the island in the past and giving birth to Humanity!!!
This is why Ms. Hawking says "God help us all" if they O6 don't get back there. And, the "Rules" that Ben and Widmore are supposed to be following include that you can't kill someone who is an ancestor or related to them.
I know this can be fleshed out alot but the basic principle makes sense.
