As we were told by Mrs Hawking, the conditions of the plane crash had to be recreated so i believe that Kate is the proxy for Claire.
I believe that when she went to see Jack, she was not crying as she had done something terrible to Aaron, she was crying as she knew she had to use Jack so that she could get pregnant.
The person she had given Aaron to could have told her that he would never be safe unless she went back to the island and so this person could've also told her that the conditions of the plane crash had to be recreated.
I also think that this baby could be none other than Benjamin Linus's childhood sweethear Annie. By the looks of things, the losties are now stuck in the DHARMA era of the island so it is therefore perfectly plausible that Kate has the baby in nine months time, and then eight to ten years late, Ben arrives.
This could also explain Annie's disappearance, as the Island may need to be moved again in the future and so she will disappear from Ben as she will be one of the losties. Theory by Tom
