Just wanted to make a comment on the whole jacob's eye scene and who's eye it could be.
Its just a suggestion but i believe jacob could be in fact desmond.
The theory derekjt brought up could be correct but i just think the two eyes given in his theory are a bit different.

Now i've had a look at Desmond a few times in the episode where just before he leaves to turn the key in the hatch , To me his eye is very similar to the scene in the cabin.

Hes been locked away in the hatch for 2,3 years so for that sense he may be stuck again but this time in the cabin.
Hes a very important character and in the episode '316' Desmond explained to them that he knows Hawking and that he wasted 4 years of his life because she told him he was destined to go to the Island. That it was his 'bloody' purpose!! ,
The first time he met her was when he relived some important times in his life in 'flashes before your eyes' which was when he blew the hatch!?!?
Maybe when he blew the hatch and the sky went white somehow the time/loop thing came in and he disappeared an ended up in the cabin , but the next time we see him facing the sky ,in the jungle,completely starkers:P.This could be desmond arriving back on the island after the O6 have arrived back (well only three as we know at the moment kate,hurley, and jack ).
Basically i have written this because this point in the show with desmond blowing the hatch is a very important point. If you think about who was in the hatch at the time of the key turning.
Charlie = eventually died due to a course of near misses which desmond kept seeing and trying to keep him alive (A sign of Jacob/smokie maybe ?!?!?)
Mr Eko = was also in the hatch with charlie trying to stop them not pressing the button , but because desmond chose to stop it and echo gone against that decision the smokie/jacob has had to kill eko.
Locke = was also in the hatch when it was blown .Another important character after the hatch was blown by desmond locke is lying in the jungle but cant speak for a period of time.
Jacob dosnt speak...and as far as we know locke/bentham is dead aswell.
So could be a link there.
The first person to find desmond after the hatch explosion was hurley , Who in an episode in s4 he see's the cabin in different places. Hes one of the few people who have seen the cabin.
