OK.. The writers now know this subject has become 1 of the biggest mysteries of the show with the viewers (the other being smokey i guess.) The way i see it is this. Considering it's a mystery show in essence you have to think like a mystery writer would. I watch plenty of "whodunit" murder mystery films and the whole Jacob situation is now much akin to the same kind of thing. The writers want to shock and surprise when it comes to answering this mystery. The reason i brought up the "whodunit" analogy was because to provide the payload surprise in this said genre there is a tried and tested formula for the reveal.
The murderer (in this case Jacob) is ALWAYS someone that plays a bit-part, the least expected (if a main character) OR isn't introduced to nearer the end.
For this reason i can see merit in that we have either not seen who Jacob is yet appear on the show or it is a background character.
I don't think it's Locke, Christian, Jack, Widmore or any other of the obvious choices that people keep mentioning. If you look at it as typical mystery story then you have to look at who you would LEAST expect. To me 1 of the least you would expect right now would be Ben! or someone we haven't met yet. Maybe from the black rock? (which incidentally that era has obviously been left out of the recent time jump flashes for good reason and is going to come much later and is sure to carry a big reveal) "Ben as Jacob you say?". How silly when he was with Locke in Jacobs cabin with Locke when Jacob said "Help Me" to Locke. Well if you lend yourself to the theory that the whispers are voices who have traveled in time on the island then you could say that it was Ben's whisper the.. "help me" and the reason Ben couldn't hear that whisper was because he is Ben and we know that you can't interact with yourself in a different timelines. (Rule #42) So maybe it could of been Ben even tho! ugh he was there in the room at the time. Unable to hear his own voice and in some kind of state of limbo, lost in time as a consequence of returning to the island after turning the wheel? Unable to live and unable to die. In need of help and will never receive it. Never able to rest in peace. LOST.
I don't seriously believe this to be the case but i was just using Ben as an example of the kind of reveal i am expecting for Jacob. I do not expect the obvious candidates at all because i see Jacob as the "whodunit" mystery of Lost and because it's become such a big issue with viewers/fans. So i guess my point is... Expect the unexpected when it comes to Jacob and his identity. It won't be who 90% of the average viewers are expecting. That I'm sure of.
Plus who's to say Danielle Rousseau was actually the crazy one? Hasn't Ben looked and acted crazy many times? Maybe she was the only sane one. How crazy were other others? The 2 women living a life in the pearl? Normal? i don't think so. Mikhail blowing himself up for the "cause"? Desmond in the swan? Others who kidnapp children and new borns? and there is something that has always struck me about Juliet being a bit odd also. All of those kinda behave crazy in rational terms. I'm sure there are more who have similar traits of a crazed fundamentalist but i can't think of them right now. There is more than a handful that make Rousseau look sound of mind though. The complete opposite of the Losties who crashed on the island as nutters and loons and seem to have become more sane the longer their stay on the island. Hmmm...
As a sub note:
The 1 thing i am looking forward to near the end of season 6 is the scene that i am certain will occur and that is the big unification scene. The scene when we will have Widmore, Jack, Christian, Ben, Hawking's, Alpert, Locke et cetera (all the major players who are still left) This is the 1 scene i am certain will play a big part near the end. The big explanation scene. The Scene of Lost.
Makes me sad that i am even thinking seriously about the end though but... it's getting closer. :(
I also would like to add that i don't read the spoilers so if i am completely wrong and there are spoilers for future episodes that prove all this to be wrong please be considerate in your comments and don't spoil me and I'm sorry if this has been said before. Theory by Richard
