The Island is no longer time jumping, after Locke moved the FDW. Here's why I think. Comments welcome...
When John Locke moves the donkey wheel, he prevents the island from time-skipping. The wheel was not hinged properly, as shown in the episode 5x05, because of which the island was time-skipping. But just before John moves the wheel completely, the island skipped to the past, when Dharma initiative was just establishing, and various stations were being constructed. So all the left-behinders (Sawyer, Juliet, Miles, Jin and Daniel - Charlotte really is dead by episode end) are now stuck in the past, and they wont be time jumping anywhere else now.
I think these left-behinders found out what time period they were in, and figured out that the Dharma initiative was still developing, and so they get themselves recruited as Dharma workers. Thats why in episode 5x01, we saw Daniel in the Orchid station, when they were drilling in the station and he bumps into Dr Candle. Daniel already knows about the power of the Orchid station, and thus has got himself a job which will keep him close to the Orchid. He keeps a record of all the things he observes in his book, which will help him later. I think he will somehow arrange for himself to find that book in the future. That is why, whenever he opens his book, he is looking for some information about the event he is looking for, as he does not have any knowledge about the event a priori.
Another reason I think that the left-behinders are stuck in the past is that Charlotte mentions that it was Daniel who tells her not to come back to the island. Think about this: The left-behinders get thrown back in the past, Daniel finds a young Charlotte, and since he knows by now that Charlotte died in future on the island, warns her to NOT return to the island, even possibly convincing her mom to leave the island, and cook up a story if Charlotte ever mentions the Island. (Here's a wicked thought - what if Charlotte is Daniel's daughter :) I'm sorry, that was sick, but still the thought just crept into my mind - with all this time traveling happening on Lost).
Also, I think that when the O6 find the island, and somehow manage to return to it, they return to the time where the island is stuck - the time when Dharma initiative was new. These O6 also get recruited as Dharma workers. Wicked...
I'm still expanding on this theory, but this is what came to my mind immediately after seeing the awesome episode "This Place is Death".
I still have a lot of questions, and a lot of things mixed up. Man, how I wish they could air one episode every day of the week...
Thanks for reading. Please do comment. Thanks to DarkUFO for hosting such a wonderful site. Its my absolute one place for all things LOST :) Theory by xa
