okay, so in the season five episode "The Life and Death of Jeremy Benthem" abaddon (i think that how you spell it) takes locke to hellen's grave. now i don't think that she is dead for a few reasons.
Firstly, the first thing that i noticed was when locke was at her grave and talking about her we cut to abaddon for a split second and he sort of rolls his eyes in a way that made him look like he had a secret. then abaddon tells locke about how he gets people to where they need to go, and i think that, that much was true but that everything else was a lie.
secondly, i have tivo so i could rewind and everything, so i ran it back and realized what locke was saying about finding sayid who was in the middle of nowhere but not being able to find hellen. if she was dead then it wouldn't be that hard to find her. or at least not as hard as sayid, or hurley, or kate.
so i think that she is working for one of three people. ben. widmore. or the economist (whoever that is). and so abaddon and widmore were tring to hide her from him.
or that if locke saw her then it might be a reason to live and he wouldn't try to kill himself, and ben wouldn't stop him, and ben wouldn't kill him, and he wouldn't be on flight 316, and he wouldn't end up back at the island.
