In The Lie's final moments, Ben asks the mysterious Ms Hawking what would happen if he cannot get all of the Oceanic 6 back to the Island, to which she responds in a line mirroring Pierre's line at the beginning:
'Then God help us all'.
The Island is, of course, now moving through time, but to the observers of the Island's movement, it moved physically also. Now, Ben has 70 hours to get everyone back to that Island... Now, why 70 hours? Is that when it will move physically again? Could this have effects on the whole world this time? Could this destroy the entire world?
Well, this had me thinking back to early Season 2 where we first met Desmond. A few times, Desmond comments how he is inputting the numbers, and hitting execute in order to save the world. But, of course, when the hatch implodes, the world is still there. Maybe he was saving the world from a long-term apocalypse; Desmond was pushing that button every 108 minutes, but soon lost his faith. Locke took over, but then Locke lost his faith also. Desmond returned, and Locke told him they weren't going to push that button and will see what happens. Now, if Locke had have pushed the button, Desmond would not have been forced to use the failsafe key, which caused the Island to be seen by Mathias and Henrik (who, of course, were working for Penny). If Desmond hadn't have turned the failsafe key, Charles and the Freighter team would have most probably not found the Island, endangering it, and forcing Ben to move the Island... we all know what happens next.
So, that means, through the button not being pushed, and the failsafe key being used, the Island was found, so had to be moved... causing everything what is happening now, and giving Ben 70 hours to get everyone who left back, or God help them all...
Maybe Charles intentionally sent Desmond to the Island somehow knowing he would end up in the Swan station, where due to his 'cowardice' would not push the button, use the failsafe key and unveil the Island's whereabouts. Tovard Hanso's Black Rock journal with the co-ordinates suggests otherwise, however, but whatd o you all think?
