Women's Intentional Resemblances and Penny's Mum is the Woman in the Portrait in Ben's House
There seems to have been a lot of intentionality in the casting of female characters who look like one another, perhaps to leave the door open to more interrelationships.
- Kate, Alex, and Rousseau all have dark, curly hair.
- Sarah, Claire, and Juliet all have long blond hair, and Ben remarks that Juliet is supposed to remind Jack of Sarah.
- Charlotte and Locke's mom share similar looks
- Kate's mom looks very little like her, looking more like she could be the mother of one of the many blonds on the show.
- Juliet looks a bit like Ben's mother BUT
- Most of all, Juliet and Penny share a resemblance with one another AND with the woman in the portrait in Ben's house. If Widmore had been on the island before, and if Ben and Widmore have a major rivalry, perhaps that rivalry stems in part from a shared interest in the same woman, the woman who would become Penny's mother and to whom Ben retained a strong emotional attachment.
