Would you consider traveling through time without your 'constant'?
Ben tells Jack that the Oceanic Six must return to the island. They must return together, all of them. When Jack asks how it is to be accomplished, Ben replies that he has a 'few ideas'.
My best guess is that Ben will ask each one of them to determine who or what their 'constant ' will be.
Daniel Faraday’s definition of a ‘constant’:
The jumps between the present and the future...need to have an anchor. Something familiar in both times. All this, see this is variables, it's random, it's chaotic.
Every equation needs stability, something known.
It's called a constant.
When you go to the future, nothing there is familiar. So if you want to stop this, then you need to find something there...something that you really, really care about....that also exists back here, in 1996.
This constant...can it be a person?
Yeah, maybe. But you have to make some kind of contact.
Here then is my theory on who and/or what are the Oceanic Six’s 'constants'.
Aaron’s constant is Kate.
Kate’s constant is the toy plane which belonged to Tom Brennan, her childhood sweetheart. Kate was obsessed with retrieving this toy plane from the plane wreckage
Sun’s constant is her wedding ring. Much attention was drawn to her wedding ring in the episodes ‘…and Found’ and in ‘Yi Yeong”.
Jack’s constant is Desmond. Their chance encounter at the stadium, where they raced each other, was too much of a coincidence for it to not have any significance in the outcome of the events on the island.
Hurley’s constant is the Numbers 4 8 15 16 23 42. These Numbers continually haunt Hurley before he lands on the island, when he’s on the island and eventually off the island as well.
Sayid’s constant is Nadia. I'm not certain how Nadia’s death will shape events to come in Sayid’s life.
Can't wait for the premiere.....
