Within Ben's group of Others there seem to me to have been two sub-groups: #1 - non-violent "non-killers" who use bolos, tasers, sling-shots, trank darts and snares ... plus #2 - mean-spirited "haters" like Danny, Colleen, Ryan, Ivan, Bea, Greta, Bonnie and Mikhail - who seem perfectly capable of cold-blooded murder - as Mikhail demonstrated for us in the LG.
IMO, Seasons 3 and 4 showed us glimpses of how Ben - who was constrained (possibly by Jacob) against directly killing these "haters" - manipulated the Losties (plus eventually Mikhail himself) into a Second Purge which wiped out this sub-group of Ben/Richard's Family.
In addition to the Ben/Richard group of Others, I believe there's a second group of on-Island Others. I think that the Tailie Night One kidnappers were part of these other Others. Goodwin hadn't yet had time to make his List. I think that the "Other" killed by Ford during the LTDA was an other Other as well. Why would a member of Ben's group "track" (and spook) Jack, Kate, James and Hugo from following Michale into Ben's ambush?
The fact that Juliet received on-Island Martial Arts and Weapons training also supports the notion of an on-Island group who were enemiies of Ben's group.
The Widmore Faction seems to include Daddy Paik, plus Brother Campbell and Ms Hawking (who seems to be a member of the Time Cop Faction - trying hard to make sure that people stay on their "paths"). If Widmore's a Bad Guy whose goal is to control DHARMA's Life Extension/Good Health capapbilities for himself and his group of wealthy cronies, then Ms Hawking's Universally course-corrected Future may not be in Humanity's best interests.
Aside from Ben and Widmore, I believe there's another off-Island Faction. Let's remember that Elsa's employer, The "Economist", seems not to have known that Ben was Sayid's boss. He cannot, therefore be Widmore - who knows Ben quite well.
I'm wondering if this "Third" Faction includes the backwards-talking Hater who yelled: "We hate you" at Kate as she entered the courthouse.
Let's remember that Kate received a "dream" in which she met "Claire" who warned her not to bring Aaron back to the Island ... and yet, the first part of this same dream included a backwards message - which said: "The Island needs you ... you have to go back before it's too late"
I recognise that the two backwards-talking messages seem to contradict each other. My point is only that LOST seems to be about much more than Ben vs Widmore.
