When I first started watching LOST (which was was only 1 year ago)I was able to watch the first three seasons within a matter a months,so it played out more like a movie for me than a drawn out TV show. My first theory was that the reason The Oceanic 6 have to go back was because they were never supposed to crash in the first place. Because of Desmond's "error" and a "rip in time" the plane crashed. I had supposed that everyone had to be reunited in order for the universe to course correct itself. Of course this would present a disappointing ending because then no one would have met each other and life would have gone on as usual, leaving Desmond as the fall guy, continuing to push the button every 108 minutes indefinitely. Now with more information about time travel and the specialness of Walt, Aaron, Richard Alpert never aging, John Locke's pseudoname Jeremy Bentham etc. I am now convinced that while I am not c! ertain how all of this will be explained, the reason they have to all come back is because they were NOT intended to survive the plane crash or at least survive to return to "normal civilization". They must all return for the universe to course correct itself and there they will build a new society much as The Others did. Or the survivors may be the sacrifices needed to save humanity.Anyway you look at it, at least the 6 that left that were survivors of Oceanic 815 must return to the island because they were never supposed to leave. Now where does this leave Yi Jeon? You tellme, how do you think it will all end?
