Some of you have probably forgotten all about this, so let’s revisit shall we? Let’s go all the way back to the first season of Lost, episode 14 - Special. Claire is still gone and Charlie is back at the camp after being abducted by Ethan. Charlie reads in Claire’s diary that she had a dream about a black rock.
Here’s exactly what she wrote: “I had that weird dream again, the one with the black rock I can’t get away from. I try to leave it but it won’t let me.”
At that time we thought it was some kind of black rock – literally but we all know by now that it is in fact a ship found on the island.
So, here comes my theory. What if the reason that Claire is in the cabin is because Christian or Jacob wants her to “join” whoever were on that ship (for some other purpose). Or maybe she just has to “do some work” involving the Black Rock. It doesn’t necessary mean that she will join them but maybe inspect it? You know, figure something out about the people? There are a lot of possibilities.
And we don’t really know for sure who the people aboard the ship were, do we? It can’t be Dharma can it? Since Kelvin or Radzinsky mapped the Black Rock on the blast door map as “Known final resting place of Magnus Hanso/Black Rock”. (Magnus Hanso was probably a part of the crew)
Still, who exactly the people were stays a mystery. I surely hope that Darlton didn’t just make us, the viewers, know about Claire having a dream about a black rock if they’re going to leave it just like that. I don’t think (more like hope not) that it’s merely a coincidence. It was specifically Claire and no one else who dreamt about it.
Tell me what you think. Is it possible?
