Anyone who has seen the Sri Lanka video knows that the purpose of the Valenzetti equation is to predict the end of the world. What is not known is the solution. The answer. When will the world end? I believe I have the answer.
The valenzetti equation was commisioned by the U.N. just after the Cuban missile Crisis in 1963. The powers that be funded a project to determine, through mathematics, just how long humanity had left before we exterminated ourselves. As Alvar Hanso said, the results were chilling. Chilling indeed. I believe that the solution to the Valenzetti equation is October 28th, 1962, or some other time during the Cuban missile crisis.
What I mean here is that the world was ALREADY supposed to end by the time the equation was commissioned. The world is trying to "course correct", because someone changed our fate. That someone? I'm guessing Jacob. Either that or the Dharma Initiative. (perhaps Jacob was a member?) Basically, what i'm saying here is that Jacob, or possibly Dharma, is to the world as Desmond was to Charlie.
Hell of an analogy, huh? They can delay our fate, but it cannot be changed. Humanity is doomed, and time is not of the essence, it is the essence. This would also explain the whole time traveling thing, as that is likely what would be required to stop such monumental events as the mathematically predetermined extinction of man. As Charlie mysteriously wrote on his fingers, it's FATE, and we cannot escape it. Perhaps we can delay it though?
IDK, I really think I'm onto something here... It really explains alot the more you think about it. You know how Ben always seems to have a plan? well mabey that's because he's already done this all before and keeps going back to stop the course correction, desperately trying to find a way to get it "right" yet ultimately failing every time and having to go back and start over. He's always got a plan, cuz he's seen this all before, and he generally knows how it's all going to play out.
