ok, this is gonna seen a little crazy but it is a really valid theory............
as we approach season 5 the only thing that is clear cut off the island is that Ben and Widmore are in competition. I've been
thinking and expanding out of the box a bit, logically the idea that makes the most sense is...........
Alvar Hanso and Thomas Mittlewerk are on opposing sides, i believe that the battle for the island stretches further out than
we actually think at the moment, This is pretty much fact. We know alvar Hanso was the first person which we know and have a
name for that found the island. He is the head of the Hanso Foundation and funded the DeGroots for the Dharma Initiative,
Alvar Hanso appearas to be portrayed as the good guy and Thomas Mittlewerk the bad. I also believe Hanso to be a good guy and
believe that the DeGroots and Dharma and all its associates had a "better tomorrow" in mind. We also know that Mr. Paik and
Paik Industries are partners of Widmore and Hanso, also we know Sun becomes Paik Industries and more or less goes into direct
business with Widmore.
Researching Thomas Mittlewerk and reading a few theories etc some things click in to place firstly............
Thomas Mittlewerk was born in austria so naturally he would be a native german speaker, and Elsa who
meets sayid in Berlin speaks to her boss "The Economist" in german, as far i know there are no other
German speaking characters on the show (maybe the exception of Mikhail but i think this is irrelevant).
So we take this into account that logically Elsa works for Thomas Mittlewerk, we know Sayid is employed
by Ben who is against Mittlewerk.
Thus we assume that..........
Ben is against Mittlewerk,Widmore/Alver/Paik
Alvar/Widmore/paik are against Mittlewerk and Ben
Mittlewerk is against Ben and Widmore/Alver/paik
and also by Sayid assinating Mr. Avellino on the golf course we assume that he works for Mittlewerk as there is no information
linking him to anyone else.
These are different parties, so personally i believe that there definatley third Parties. we know Widmore does seem
to have his own agenda my hiring Ishmal Bakir to asssinate Nadia, this is proven when Ben says " I need you to take
a message to your employer, Mr Widmore" (Shape of things to come). Whether he is doing these things under the direction
of Hanso is inconclusive as there is no evidence to put support it either way.
It appears that Abbadon works for Widmore, because we have seen him with Naomi recruiting the science team for Widmore's
Freighter, I think that is what was intended to be percieved. I don't think Abbadon works for
Ben as he is so supportive of Locke and seems to know he's special and also it would destroy any need for Ben to have a
spy if he could gain information so easily. Also it would not sense for Abbadon to work for Mittlewerk for the same reason,
Abbadon seeming to know about locke as the future leader so early on indicates that he cold've passed information on to
mittlewerk back then who could've spied on Locke until he boarded Oceanic 815. Also Abbadon knowing about Hurley would
be information passed on from Widmore as he and Ben are the only outside players who know what was actually going down on
the island itself. We have also seen in recent photos it appears Hurley works with Sayid, this is also backed by the fact
that Sayid takes Hurley to a safe house in "there's no place like home". So i assume that Hurley is working with Sayid
for ben
so now we have............
Ben employs Sayid and Hurley
Alvar/widmore/Paik employ Abbadon and Ishmal Bakir
Mittlewerk employs Mr. Avellino and Elsa
I believe now Sayid has got the end of the list, by killing Elsa he has found Mittlewerk "the economist" and know he has
to destroy the top bosses Mittlewerk/Alvar/Paik/Widmore and maybe Abbadon. notice how in the Closing Scenes of THE ECONOMIST ben says
"they know your coming for them now" not "he knows your coming for him now". Also a fact that should be noted is Sayid is
wearing the exact same outfit when he went to get hurley as he was in the vets when he was being told by Ben "that they know
your coming for them"
Focusing on Widmore i do believe he is one of the good guys, the main factors behind this are the way Frank Lapidus reacts to
michael when he says Widmore put the plane the plane on the bottom of the ocean. and the fact that Sun goes into business with
him, although Sun is cheesed about her husband being blown up i don't think she would put everyone elses life in danger on the
island. This is also because she meets up with Hurley all friendly and cuddly. I know widmore wanted to torch the island but i
believe this is for good, i believe he knew the "bad things that happened" wouldn't of happened if everyone was killed. Also
Widmore tried his best to get Desmond to the island by diverting him from Penny and on to the boat race so he could turn the
failsafe. This would put him among the good guys who protect the island and the past/future these appear to be Ms.Hawkins/Brother
Campbell/Randy Nations and maybe even Abbadon. Ms.Hawkings and Widmore both appear to have a common goal, making sure Desmond
goes to the Island.
So using all this information by depol we would assume that Alvar/Widmore/paik are the good guys. I also belive that Ishmal Bakir
was actually hired by widmore to kill Sayid to stop him working for Ben, but tragically Nadia was killed by accident.
What also makes sense is it seems Ben is on some angry revenge kick about the rules being changed and his daughter being shot dead.
But i think Widmore was tired of games and needed to get ben off the island to save it, i think all he did was generally in the
best intentions of the island. When we see the end of "the shape of things to come" although frail widmore appears to be calm and
in control where as Ben seems angry and uncomfortable. Widmore exclaims he turned to drink "when the nightmares started" i belive
Widmore was seeing flashes of the future and this was what spurred him to take the drastic actions he did.
Back to Ben, we know Ben works for Jacob and, what we've seen of Jacob isn't exactly great. Jacobs lives in a creepy old Cabin,
have jars of human fluid on his window sill, is violent, and scares hurley half to death. He has a spokesman who is a former alcoholic
and was a poor father/husband and generally shallow person, Not forgetting he killed a pregnant woman and her baby by operating
whilst drunk.
And lets be honest what good have we seen the others do? they killed aload of Dharma folks trying to save the world, and have found no
cure for the pregancy issues, and they killed a few losties and kidnapped them. I can't see how the others have done anything to
be viewed as good people. I think the writers have played it so we sympathize with Ben and forget how evil and vindictive he is, and
how manipulative him and the others are.
I think this basically means that...........................
Jacob employs Others and Ben who employs Sayid and Hurley
Jacob is against Mittlewerk and Alvar/paik/widmore
Jacob is BAD
Mittlewerk employs Elsa and Mr Allevino

I believe the island is out of the hands of the folk on it and into the hands of those outside of it, i believ this is why Jeremy
this is why Bentham had to leave the island. Also I think widmore wanted BEn alive so he could use him to work for him in helping
destroy mittlewerk. I also think that this ties in what the lost expanded universe is about, i believe that it is no coincidence
dharma are just starting to reform at a time when the island really needs it.
And finally tying up loose ends.........I believe that Ben is lying, I believe that maybe Jack wasn't supposed to get off the island,
but i believe that sun was, I believe Jack has a hero nature for a purpose and that was to get sun off the island. I believe this because
Sun got pregnant and had to leave, i think Ji Yeon Kwon had to be born for a specific purpose or just to get Sun to take over Paik Industries
I believe it could be Ms.Hawkings or maybe widmore that makes this happen, afterall it seems to work in Widmores favour. I dont however
belive that Sayid and jack were ment to leave the island. However i also believe Ben is lying about all the oceanic06 having to return
together, maybe i think this because it'll leave the children (Aaron and Ji Yeon) with no protection and as it appears claire is in with
Jacob and Christian i wouldn't trust what she said to kate "don't bring him back Kate". I do actually believe that Kate is right in some respects and again the directors have pulled a "sympathize with" Jack trick.
This may seem a little crazy but re watch some season 4 with this in mind and it makes perfect sense
