A very big part of the equation of fractal time is the Now. (We can assume the Now is relevant to Lost. The author, which Richard Alpert was named after, became later known as Babba Ram Das and wrote the book "Be Here Now". The book was all about living in the "Now".)
From my understanding fractal time, Now is an interval in the time stream, which varies according to one's place in the simultaneity of events. The density, depth and length of time varies. So I imagine that any manipulation of time must take place on these fractal levels rather than the Now (Which I call Zerotime).
Think of an abacus. The beads on the wire rod represent events in time. The wire rods, of which there are many, represents the Now(or Zerotime). From my understanding of your proposition, the event/beads can be slid forward along the Now. Another row can be slid backward. Remember both forward and backward event beads are riding on the Now/wire-rod, no matter how many there are. Therefore, a man who dies two days in the future can be in the present. Its all a matter of sliding the event beads, which exist in time, back to an alignment with earlier events.
