Not sure if this was mentioned before, but I just watched the first episode of Lost and had a thought.
When the scene opens, Jack is laying on the ground and it does look like Ben's billy club is laying beside him (as mentioned in previous posts). It reminded me of the scene showing Ben opening his eyes in the desert after he turned the Frozen Donkey Wheel.
I seemed Jack knew what was going to happen within the plane wreckage (pull the guy out before the engine explodes, runs over to help Claire, races over to help Rose before Boone kills her, runs over and saves Hurley and Claire, etc). He also located a sewing kit in the first suitcase he opens.
I wonder if there isnt another frozen donkey wheel in our time/world and that is how the losties make it back to the island. I think Jack turns this wheel and the aftermath is the first scene in the series.
At one point in the beginning of the show, Jack takes off his jacket and they show a cut on his back that Kate shows up and sews it shut. His jacket didnt looked ripped at all. I dont think he was injured in the plan crash, I think he was injured before he turned the wheel.
All the losties seem to have knowledge of things that are going to happen at one point or another, and I think this is because they have all lived it before.
The whispers could be past thoughts flooding back to them...kind of like the Langoliers theory.
I think the last scene of the series will be Jack and the other losties turning the donkey wheel in our worls/time, Jack getting injured, and them waking up on the island...just as the plane crashes again.
