I rewatched the pilot yesterday with some friends who want to start watching LOST (I always try to recruit new ones!). Anyways, there was two things I noticed. These have probably all been talked on before, but it was something I noticed for the first time.
The first was the very opening. Something I found strange was the Jack was way out in the jungle while the rest of the people - people he was sitting right beside like Rose and Locke - were on the beach. Why is he there? When he wakes up, he looks around like he is soaking it all in. Then, after seeing Vincent which seems to snap him back to reality, he stands up and runs right to the beach! Did he know where he was going? He sure seemed like it! I just can't help but think that Jack seemed to know exactly what to do - almost like he was reliving it!
Of course, there are plenty of holes in this theory. If he was reliving it, which part of LOST after the pilot are we watching: new Jack on the island, old Jack on the island, or a combo of the both? It's a tough question to answer and I am not even going to try. The main thing I wanted to point out was the fact that he was separated from the rest. Possibly, Christian Shepherd himself pulled him from the wreckage and took him to the jungle? Why, I can't say? But it is a possibility!
Secondly, was the backgammon game. I am not going to focus on this too much as there are plenty of theories on it already, but it was the fact that Locke goes on such a rant about it. "It's the oldest game in the world - dating back to Mesopotamia - 5000 years old - older than Jesus Christ." He places a lot of importance on history, and how the game is basic - two players, one light, one dark.
Here is what I picked up: "it's the oldest game; two players, one light, one dark". When you put those lines together along with - "You changed the rules!" - I think you see where I am getting! Maybe the game he refers to is actually the game going on between Ben and Widmore. Two players - one light, one dark - and the game dates back a long time. It's kind of a stretch, but not as much as some things on LOST! haha. Anyways, these are just some thing I caught on from the Pilot. The writers already said there is something VERY important in that episode, so I am trying hard to find it!
